The Windows app and the browser extension are not hosted: they run entirely on the user's device. They are distributed from the website, on the Chrome Web Store (Google) and on the Microsoft Store (Microsoft).
Nature of the service
Korr is a free spelling and grammar checker. The website and the extension correct French, English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese; the Windows app corrects French and English.
All text processing is local: it happens in the user's browser or on the user's computer. No text is sent to a server, because no correction server exists. Users can check it themselves: after the first load, they cut their connection, and correction keeps working.
Intellectual property
Korr (software, texts, logo, brand and website content) is the property of Geoffrey Giner. All rights reserved. It is free to use under the terms of use.
The only third-party component distributed is Node.js (MIT license), bundled with the Windows app to run the checker. The full text of its license ships with the app.
The accuracy measurements published on the website are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license (CC BY 4.0): they may be reused with credit to Korr.
Third-party trademarks, logos and product names mentioned belong to their respective owners.
Personal data
Corrected text never leaves the user's device. The website uses no cookie. It measures its traffic with Vercel Web Analytics, anonymously and without cookies. The browser's local storage is used only to remember the user's preferences, which never leave the device.
