Korr is a free spelling and grammar checker for French, English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, with no account and no subscription. Correction happens on your device, and a keyboard shortcut triggers it right where you write.
Free. No account. No subscription. No character limit. Offline.
Each language has its own rules, written for the mistakes people actually make in it. A text is never checked with another language's rules.
Subject-verb agreement, compound tenses, false friends, verb-governed prepositions, uncountable nouns ("informations", "advices").
Hard agreements, past participle with a fronted object, pronominal verbs, tense sequence, subjunctive, homophones, typography and text-message shorthand.
Accents that change meaning, dequeísmo and queísmo, long-distance agreement, the opening marks ¿ and ¡.
Grave accent written for the acute, the missing h of avere, elisions, subjunctive.
The final nasal your keyboard drops (informação), impersonal haver and fazer, crasis in fixed phrases.
In Auto mode, Korr recognises the language of the text. If a text mixes two languages, it asks which one to check instead of guessing.
| Where | Languages | Shortcut |
|---|---|---|
| Website (and installable web app) | All five | "Correct" button |
| Chrome extension (also installs in Edge) | All five | Alt+Shift+C |
| Windows app | French and English only | Ctrl+Alt+C, in any program |
The extension shortcut can be changed at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
An account usually ties your text to a server. Korr has none: the engines ship with the page, the extension or the app, and correct on your device, so there is nothing to tie your text to. The details are in How Korr works offline.
French, English and Spanish are measured on published corpora in which half the sentences are already correct. Italian and Portuguese have their test suites but no published measurement yet, which is why they are in beta. See the numbers and the method.
Yes. Korr checks five languages (French, English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese) with no account, no subscription and no character limit, and correction happens on your device.

No: the Windows app checks French and English. All five languages are available on the website and in the browser extension.
No. In Auto mode, Korr recognises the language. You can also pick it yourself, which helps for a very short text or one that mixes two languages.
Because their accuracy has not yet been measured on published corpora, as French, English and Spanish have. Their rules follow the same principle: when a correction is uncertain, Korr changes nothing.
